Germania Country Store & Lodge

.The Germania store was built in 1884. German settlers were the first to establish here. There is a lot of history in Germania the store being only one portion of it. Way back the post office was located in the store. This was when you could do everything in one stop. You have to remember that the store in 2018 turned 134 years old. There are original pieces still being used in the store. The wheel cheese we are famous for is cut on an antique cheese cutter. This piece of history is deeded right along with the store. If anyone were to own the store and not sell the wheel cheese this would be deeded to the historical society. Also in use at the store are the original shutters. They have been painted and used for decorations on a few walls and also to divide the office from the store itself. People travel 5, 6, even 7 hours to buy this cheese. A trip to the Germania Country Store is nostalgic for a lot of people, being that they did it all the time as a child.
